Biggie was no doubt one of the top rhyme artist of our time whose place is to be mentioned in the same breath as guys like Pac, KRS One, and Rakim; who are in my opinion three of the all-time hard-core rhymers who had original styles and a way with words that painted pictures in your mind as you listened to the well crafted bars of hip-hop in it's purest (uncut by the industry) form.
"Kick in the Door" from the "Life After Death" albumn 1997, in my opinion embodies Biggie's hard core style at it's peek, regardless of the fact that it was obviously aimed at Pac, helping to fuel the fatal and tragic ending fued that robbed us of two of hip-hop's top icons of our generation. The imagery and wordplay of Kick in the Door cut straight to the point via street imagery and the street peotry that helped to permanently carve Biggie's place as a hip-hop Icon.
"I drop unexpectedly like bird shit
You herbs get, stuck quickly for royalties and show money
Don't forget the publishin, I punish em, I'm done with them
Sun, I'm surprised you run with them
I think they got cum in them, cause they, nothin but dicks
Tryin to blow up like nitro in dynamite sticks"
